Sandi Rosner learned to knit from the instructions in the back of a magazine in the late 1970's. Since then, she's nearly always had needles and yarn within arm's reach. In 2000, Sandi quit her job in corporate risk management and made knitting and crochet her career. She has owned a yarn store, been the Creative Director for a large yarn company, and now works as a freelance designer, technical editor, writer and teacher. She was a producer on the public television show Knit and Crochet Now! for 3 seasons. She has worked with students at yarn stores, retreats and Stitches events across the country.
Sandi designs sweaters and accessories that are a joy to knit and a pleasure to wear. Most of her work is done for yarn companies and magazines, and she has often described herself as a "designer for hire". Her self-published designs reflect her preference for clean lines, classic silhouettes, and playful color. She delights in the subtle details that make a project special, and she believes fine craftsmanship makes all the difference. Sandi has been known to say "that's one sexy thumb gusset" in the same tone of voice she uses when talking about dark chocolate. Sandi is the author of Not Just Socks (Unicorn Books 2004), Not Just More Socks (Unicorn Books 2005), Not Just Socks for Kids (Unicorn Books 2006) and 21 Crochet Tanks and Tunics: Stylish Designs for Every Occasion (Stackpole 2016). Her designs have been featured in Vogue Knitting, Knit Simple, Twist Collective, Knit.Wear, Interweave Knits, Creative Knitting, Knitters Magazine, ILikeKnitting and ILikeCrochet.
Sandi is a proud daughter of California who now lives in Charlotte, North Carolina. When she's not working, you can find her reading (mostly contemporary fiction), going to hear live music (mostly jazz), and cooking (mostly soups). Her favorite knitting accompaniments are NPR and audio books.Find Sandi's patterns here on PatternVine.com, and on Ravelry as Sandir, on Instagram as @rosnersandi, and on Facebook as Sandi Rosner.
